Benefits of Membership


Some benefits of joining MMMC include:

  • Expand your education and knowledge of marine husbandry, aquiculture and conservation through interaction with other members in the area and through Club presentations;
  • Access to the Club Library;
  • Participation in Club Raffles, including occasional free raffles;
  • Participation in Club Auctions;
  • Occasional Discounts at Preuss Animal House on select days, as announced.
  • Free or discounted entry into any MMMC conferences;
  • Occasional Door Prizes;
  • Promotes our Charitable purposes and goals of education, conservation and aquiculture as well as the education of children through reef aquaria;
  • MMMC members will enjoy the same costs to enter any Marinelife Aquarium Society of Michigan (AMASM@) conference or swap meeting that MASM members pay;
  • MMMC members will be able to attend most events normally limited to MASM members only, with a few exceptions;
  • MMMC Members will enjoy the same discounts offered to MASM members from MASM forums Sponsors, such as some that offer 10% discounts;

Besides all the membership benefits, besides getting out having fun and meeting great people, besides great opportunities to win great prizes, and more importantly you are also helping us to help teach school children about marine aquaria, conservation and basic biology, zoology and many other lesson related to marine aquaria.


Annual Dues


The Annual Dues for Club membership are $12 per year, prorated at $1 per month if you join after the first of the year. This cost will cover the primary Member, the Member's spouse and any children age 16 and under. Currently, membership dues are paid in February for the entire year. For those joining mid-year, the membership dues will be prorated at $1 per month.


Meetings


Meetings are typically held once per month during the winter months, on Sundays at around 6:00 PM. The club typically has one or two meetings during the summer as well. Meetings are generally held at at Preuss Pets ()located at 1127 N. Cedar St., Lansing, MI) but sometimes will be held at various other locations including other member's homes, zoos or other places of interest. Meetings will typically be in the Greater Lansing Area, with a field trip here and there.
